Car park management by National Clamps - National Clamps believe that using the threat of wheel clampers, ticket issuing, wheel clamping or CCTV monitoring represents a massive deterrent and can provide you with good bespoke car park management solutions in days at an annual cost of only £30 (+ VAT) per sign (i.e. no hidden extra costs).

Criteria that should be considered in car park strategy include:

• developing a hierarchy of users for the site, for example customers taking priority over staff
  providing for mobility impaired people
• identifying who requires a car to conduct company business shift workers, particularly those who start work during the early hours of the morning or late evening
• excluding people who can realistically travel by bus, train or tram sensible allocation of spaces based on distance between home and the workplace those who need the car for other good reasons (e.g. duty of care, etc)

ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) works by taking a photograph of the vehicle and running a process on the photograph to identify the numbers and letters on the plate, before checking this against a database to identify which car and driver it is. Camera systems often use infra-red to ensure recognition in all lighting circumstances. It is primarily used by police forces around the world to help tackle vehicle theft and insurance problems, and is built into speed cameras, closed circuit television cameras, and specially built units. However, ANPR can also be used to help manage a car parking area.

With ANPR managing your car park you don’t need to worry about car park patrolling, or parking tickets. When a car owner enters the car park this is logged into the database by the camera, and when the car leaves the camera again picks this up and charges the parker the right amount for their stay, so it doesn’t matter if they stay longer than expected! Members of the ANPR scheme can either pay by top up, so they have a balance to pay with, or they can pay a bill at the end of the month, easy! If a vehicle parks which does not have permission, or a vehicle stays for too long a nearby vehicle immobiliser can be called in quickly by the system so you need not worry.

ANPR is a much more cost effective and reliable method of managing a car parking area than the standard Pay & Display car park management, so if you own a car park it’s definitely worth a try!
